Figures from the Harris County Appraisal District (or the Houston Chronicle Appraisal District) reveal that the IMPROVEMENT VALUE PER SQUARE FOOT for 4747 Southwest Freeway was 29 CENTS in 2017, 74 CENTS in 2018, and $4.68 in 2021. (It might be lower since Chronicle protested.)  The Chronicle and our Tax Assessor suffer from Trumpitis.

The  Houston Chronicle endorsement of Ann Harris Bennett for Harris County Tax Assessor on October 31, 2016 stated in part: "She recognizes how our property tax system treats homeowners unfairly in contrast to commercial property owners."    "I will be advocating for fair and equal appraisal - fair and equal access to the system," Bennett told the editorial board. "I know for a fact that those big businesses downtown aren't suffering, and jumping through hoops, and going through what the average citizen goes through."
